OWNER BIO
Hello there! My name is Thadyn Du Pont, and I am the owner of Note in Hand Piano Studios in Tallahassee, Florida. I like to describe my name pronunciation as "...Aiden with a 'TH' in front..." It's not pronounced how it's spelled, and it's definitely not spelled the way it's pronounced. I was born into an Air Force family, and I've lived all over the United States in Virginia, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and New Hampshire just to name a few. I moved to Florida in August 2024 to pursue my Master of Music in Piano Performance & Pedagogy from Florida State University.
I have been playing piano for over 20 years, with 15 years of solo and collaborative piano experience in churches, weddings, and private events all over the United States. I am currently studying at FSU with Dr. Stijn De Cock and Dr. Diana Dumlavwalla. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2023 with a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance under Dr. Igor Lipinski. I began my collegiate-level piano studies at Cameron University in Lawton, OK, under Dr. Hyunsoon Whang.
I am currently a collegiate member of the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA), and the 2024-2025 Treasurer of the MTNA @ FSU Collegiate Chapter. I am also a Graduate Teaching Assistant at FSU for Group Piano, teaching piano skills to Freshman & Sophomore non-piano music majors. I am a past member of the Oklahoma Music Teacher's Association (OMTA) and the Norman-Area MTA.
When I'm not in school or teaching piano, I am an Aerospace Medical Technician for the Air National Guard. As hobbies, I enjoy traveling, cooking, eating at new restaurants, watching I Love Lucy, and spending time with family and friends. Although not truly hobbies, I enjoy fishing and hiking when I get the chance.

HISTORY
Thadyn started Note in Hand in 2021, while double majoring in Biology and Piano as a way to support himself through his final years of college. Although he originally had every intention of pursuing medical school after graduation, it took starting Note in Hand to realize his love for teaching music.
Thadyn has taught almost 30 students and 15 families, most of them continuously throughout last his three years in Oklahoma. While a member of Oklahoma Music Teacher's Association until Spring 2024, Thadyn's students have participated in multiple local festivals and competitions, earning highest ratings of Superior Plus.
With Thadyn's transition to Tallahassee, Florida, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Tallahassee area. As a collegiate member of the Music Teacher's National Association, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant of Group Piano at Florida State University, Thadyn brings years of specialized experience to your student's musical journey. Whether you want instruction in private piano, composition, or music theory, Note in Hand can provide your child with a well-rounded approach to their music education.
